The Mardefeldpalais was built in the first half of the 18th century. In 1859 the building was used as the first Ansbach station for the Ansbach-Gunzenhausen route. On February 22/23, 1945, the eastern half was destroyed. After that, the building was only partially rebuilt. During its checkered history, the building served, among other things, as a post office, railway office and training center for engine drivers..
